E.E. Miller Elementary School is excited to offer a Spanish Immersion program to kindergarten and first-grade students. Kindergarten and first-grade students will learn to comprehend, speak, read and write in Spanish. After completing the first year in the Spanish Immersion classroom, students may continue the Spanish Immersion program through the fifth grade.

Students enjoy many benefits from the program. The Spanish Immersion program offers exposure to other cultures and prepares students to meet the challenges of a global society.

In Spanish Immersion classes, the North Carolina State Standards are taught by a teacher who is fluent in Spanish. Children are encouraged to use Spanish in their speech. Parents are encouraged to help their children read in English at home. Resource classes in Art, Music, Guidance, Computers, Physical Education and Literacy are taught in English.

The Spanish Immersion Program will be a good fit for your child if

  • you value bilingualism, bi-literacy, and diversity
  • your child has a strong foundation in English
  • your child needs additional challenges
  • you want your child to have an edge in tomorrow’s market economy
  • you are willing to make a long-term commitment to the program

To enroll, visit E.E. Miller to complete an application. If E.E. Miller is not your home school, you will also need to complete a Choice Schools Application.
